Logically, we would expect the cutoff between reversing and surprinting to be at the 50% line (red line). But in practice, reading dark surprinted type over 40% and 50% backgrounds is tiresome, even oppressive. Instead, the practical cutoff for reversing and surprinting is at the 35% mark (cyan line).
